it's good to have an end to journey towards, but it is the journey that matters, in the end ....

paper rejected

Chatted with Niraj using MS office communicator. He works till late at night in MS Hydbad and hence we can catch up. Man he seems to be really working hard there. He and Pankaj (my former colleague) are in the same team. Pankaj was online the whole day yest. and then he was asking me all about my work. It was like he was taking my viva exam.
Then I remembered that my paper got rejected boohoohoo :''(. My guide wants me to work on it since and make changes and send him across. Anyways I saw the changes , the issue is I tested on 10 Solaris machines and they want me to test on larger set of machines basically testing is not adequate i always knew that was our limitation in iitk. Now how can I test on Solaris machines sitting out here....
As Amit adviced I will tell Sir that "Iss dukaan ki saari sevayen samapt ho chuki hai" :). Or may be I will ask Sumit.

i am concious

i am concious now ..btw is this the right spelling...

work and weekend

Its funny, I have started knowing people in office, generally chatting etc and started having fun. (However it is still time before I start cracking my PJs. People here don't laugh at my PJs at all - infact they don't understand) and I am generally lost during the weekends as to what to do! Infact the work is more during the weekends laundry, dishes, driving etc but somehow I still look forward to a weekend....
i ate 2 banana bread (that had chocochip and walnut too) and a choc frosted doughnut and a biryani (frozen food from mayuri) since morning and now I feel I have become a doughnut myself :(. i think i will goto the gym too in the weekend. Pending for a long time.

anyways talked to saurabh for a very long time. He is into dabol project for reviving Enron and he also attended a seminar for infrastructure development that had all the national and international (US and china) bigwigs.
He was discussing all the models - how highways are constructed and how cities should be planned around it etc and how they do it in China and US and how China's model is the best. It feels great to think on those issues sometime. Things around us we take so much for granted but for people who plan it it must be a huge task.
He is also getting some guy funded by NPC (National Planning Commission and NTPC) who he seemed to be very impressed with. This guy is an NRI who returned to india and developed a low cost model for in-home production of electricity. The capital cost of such a power plant is 2000 rupees and basically the raw products are cow dung etc. The thruput is good. This he has implemented in a village and now the state of the village is that it supplies electricity to the board.
Infact saurabh talked to a bigwig in the planning commission about it and he said that he still optimistic about India because of guys like this NRI.
Man I love Saurabh's job a lot. No wonder he is always so excited about it all the time. Well my job is not bad too but it is definitely very different.

good morning - yest. and tom.

So my driving is improving and now I don't mind driving in traffic so I am getting lazy in the morning. I want to write a comment on nishit's blog too but he writes on books and stuff.
Well the fact that he is reading my blog makes me write more. And mr. ananymous you gotta leave your name there.
So yest. we had this bar party at night 8.30 onwards and my manager was keen to make me go there (it was in downtown seattle- the hippy place). Well mom happened and I didn't go. Anyways I was told that its rude to go in a bar and not drink (atleast the bar owner might not be pleased). And the other suggestion was to carry a glass of water and pass it off as vodka :).
Well my friend suggested that you should go and drink but don't drink the first time in front of strangers coz you never know how you might behave :). All weird advices. Somehow I havent become adventurous enough to try to drink. Prob. its kind of a mental block for me.
Well apartment hunting is going on big time. Asking every one from Sunil (my colleague) to other's outside office. Have shortlisted the following:
- Hampton Greens (biggest plus is that it is close to office and next to proclub (http://www.proclub.com) - our official gym.
- Ravenswood
- The Lakes
- Trails of Redmond (Where i live currently)
- Archstone Lakes
- Archstone
- The Parks
All the apartments with the name lakes are actually beside lakes and it is a part of the coast (?) line of one of those big lake - sammamish and they have bought and privatised a part of the coast line. Man its a huge lake spreads for 270 degrees of my vision. i had seen Archstone lakes - it was amazing. I like the idea of having a lake view from the apartment and being able to lounge in one of the chairs besides it on a lazy sat afternoon reading some book or listening to music.
The only deal is it is not close to office or market place but welll if I get the license it will not be much of a issue as I drive from Trails to my work and Archstone lakes is close to it.
Let's see how it goes.

never

- never try making a half fry in a microwave (or keep it for > 2 mins)
- never in US go back to a buffet with the same plate..you need to take a new plate everytime you go
- never try to change lanes when there is a vehicle coming from the other end

the last one could be fatal.
